Calcium CARBONATE Oral Suspension   200 mg/mL (provides 80 mg of elemental calcium/mL)

    calcium carbonate, USP    PWD   
    Simple syrup        
    Water with sodium benzoate (Preserved Water)   0.1%    qs to 
Recipe Total Quantity:
Final Quantity Desired: mL

Directions: 1. Weigh the required amount of calcium carbonate powder.
2. Levigate calcium carbonate powder with simple syrup.
3. Pour into a graduated cylinder.
4. Rinse mortar and qs to the final volume with preserved water. Mix well.
5. Transfer to final container and label.

Notes Flavouring agent used in references was banana.
A flavoring agent i.e. Banana Flavoring or Tutti Fruiti may be added (approximately 1 mL per 100 mL of final suspension).

References assigned a stability of 60 days at room temperature.
However, based on pharmacy experience a 30 day room temperature expiry date is recommended, since there is a possibility of mold growth if product is used for 60 days.
