Sodium Citrate/ Citric Acid (Modified Shohl's Solution)   provides 1 mEq/mL of sodium and equivalent to 1 mEq/mL of bicarbonate

    Citric acid monohydrate, USP    PWD   
    Water, sterile       qs to 
Recipe Total Quantity:
Final Quantity Desired: mL

Directions: 1. Weigh out powders.
2. Dissolve powders in a portion of the water.
3. QS to final volume with water.
4. Transfer to final container and label.

Notes 5 mL contains: 500 mg sodium citrate dihydrate and 334 mg citric acid monohydrate (same as PMS-Dicitrate commercial product).

Sodium citrate dihydrate crystals or powder can be used.

Ingredient alternatives (original recipe ingredients preferred):
Sodium citrate dihydrate 10 g = sodium citrate anhydrous 8.7 g
Citric acid monohydrate 6.68 g = citric acid anhydrous 6.1 g

Contains sodium 1 mEq/mL and is equivalent to bicarbonate 1 mEq/mL.
