Norfloxacin Oral Suspension   20 mg/mL

    Ora-PlusŪ / Simple Syrup   1:1    qs to 
Recipe Total Quantity:
Final Quantity Desired: mL

Directions: 1. In a mortar, crush tablets and triturate to a fine powder.
2. Mix Ora-PlusŪ and simple syrup together (1:1) to make vehicle.
3. Levigate powder with approximately 10% of the vehicle to make a uniform paste.
4. Gradually add remaining vehicle until a liquid is formed. Stir after each addition.
5. Pour into a graduated cylinder.
6. Rinse mortar and qs to final volume with vehicle.
7. Transfer to final container and label.

Notes Norfloxacin tablets are Non-Formulary with a Therapeutic Interchange.
Refer to Norfloxacin tablets in AHS Provincial Formulary.

Study in reference used strawberry syrup, which was prepared by mixing 3200 mL of simple syrup and 600 mL of strawberry fountain syrup.

For this recipe arbitrary substituted simple syrup in place of strawberry syrup.
