Hydrocortisone Ointment in Petrolatum    1%

Recipe Total Quantity:
Final Quantity Desired: g

Directions: 1. Weigh out hydrocortisone powder and white petrolatum.
2. Levigate the hydrocortisone powder with a small amount of petrolatum.
3. Gradually add the rest of the petrolatum and mix thoroughly.
4. Transfer to ointment jar and label.

Notes To be prepared ONLY in the event that the commercial product is NOT available.

Assign expiry date using USP 795 Guidelines, since no stability data available.
USP 795 guidelines - Solid Formulations:
"Where the manufactured drug product is the active ingredient source - not later than 25% of the time remaining until the preparation expiration date or 6 months, whichever is earlier.
Where USP or NF is the active ingredient source - 6 months"
