Sodium Citrate Oral Solution in Water    0.3 M
Lot No Expiry(mm/yyyy) Ingredients Master Formula
    sodium citrate dihydrate    PWD   
    peppermint oil    OIL   
    Aspartame (equal)    TAB   
    Water, sterile       qs to 
Recipe Total Quantity:
Final Quantity Desired: mL

Directions: 1. Weigh sodium citrate powder and place into an appropriate size calibrated bottle.
2. Add approximately half the amount of water to the calibrated bottle and shake to dissolve.
3. Add peppermint oil and the required amount of aspartame tablets.
4. QS to final volume with sterile water. Shake well.
5. Label the calibrated bottle.

Notes Prepare ONLY if the commercial preparation is NOT available.

Sodium Citrate 0.3 M compounded/manufactured oral solution is non-formulary.
Refer to Sodium Citrate manufactured 0.3 M oral solution.

Aspartame tablets are added to increase palatability; adjust tablet quantity to achieve desired sweetness. Original reference used saccharin tablets.

Can substitute sodium citrate dihydrate with sodium citrate anhydrous.
NOTE: sodium citrate dihydrate 88.2 grams = sodium citrate anhydrous 77.4 grams
